Product Description

Matt Finish Patterned Imprinted Concrete Sealer for Driveways and Patios.

A hard wearing imprinted concrete sealer with a Matt look finish

Our matt finish Imprinted Concrete Sealer has been specially formulated to help with re-colouring and re-sealing of imprinted concrete driveways and patios. It will also help restore the original colouring of the surface of stamped or pressed concrete. It is non-yellowing and has an excellent resistance to water, alkalis and acids. It also contains a UV absorber to improve protection from ultra-violet light and prevent colour loss.

  • Protects the surface from oil and other staining.
  • Seals, protects and enhances the surface of all pattern imprinted concrete.
  • Easily applied by sprayer or broom.
  • Protects against colour loss and surface wear.
  • Average coverage: 4 to 5 m² per litre (dependent on condition).
  • Make sure before applying that the surface temperature is between 10 - 20°C
  • Can be combined with Smartseal colour tints to restore original colour of paving
  • Smartseal 'Anti-Slip Additive' can be added for extra surface grip
  • Hardens & seals concrete permanently
  • Non-remulsifiable, non-blooming when wet
  • Tough, Durable and Hard Wearing
  • Designed for use with Pattern Imprinted Concrete
  • Petrol, Diesel, Oil & Grease resistant
Application Guidelines:
  1. Make sure that surface area is completely clean.
  2. Make sure that the surface area is bone dry (allow 3-4 dry days after cleaning)
  3. The Imprinted Concrete Sealer is commonly a 2 coat application, however due to age and condition of the surface, this may vary to get a 'uniform' finish. Please contact us providing pictures if unsure. Furthermore, samples are available to try on a test area.
  4. Apply sealer to the surface using a broom or sprayer. (allow 1-2 hours minimum between coats).
  5. Allow 4 hours before walking and 24 hours before any vehicle traffic on the surface (for the sealer to cure and bond to the concrete).

PLEASE REFER to our YouTube Channel if unsure regarding the use of colour tint.

After correctly applying the sealer, expect to have between 3-5 years protection. Sealer protection will vary dependent on a number of factors such as: traffic (foot/vehicle), weather and general maintenance.

Technical

Application

The imprinted concrete slab must be fully surface dry after washing the paving off by pressure washing. Brush slab to remove any dirt or debris. Must be applied via a paving sprayer or soft broom normally in two equal applications, keeping the paving sprayer head moving to avoid pooling. The first application must be brushed into the surface and allowed to dry past tacky prior to applying the second coat of sealer onto the paving. Avoid application in strong, direct sunlight - do not apply if rain is likely within 6 hours of application.

Deicing salts should not be applied directly on Smartseal block paving or concrete sealers. Salt chemically reduces the temperature at which water freezes and will result in water ingress into the concrete. Subsequent freezing may result in the concrete seal being broken by the expansion of water as it freezes and white pitted areas may become visible.

Technical & Test Data

Has been tested by the TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) and certified that it meets the SRV (Skid Resistance Value) for all categories of paving for local authority pedestrian areas and when heavily trafficked is suitable for special applications where risks of skidding are high as laid down in the UK Highway Authorities Tender Specification. Copies available on request.

Health & Safety

Flammable liquid. Do not smoke. Keep application area well ventilated. Wear respirator when applying. Store in a cool place. Flash point 42°C (Abel-Closed Cup). Refer to the Health & Safety Data Sheet for further information.

Product FAQs

Q: How do I work out how much I need to do two coats of the Matt concrete sealer and how much tint do I use

Q: Hi I had my brown paved concrete repainted with black sealant .the new black sealant is breaking up in small patches showing the brown original colour . I want to repaint it myself can you suggest what you sell will help. Thanks. Paul

Paul hawkins

A: Please send some pictures to contactus@smartseal.co.uk Paul, we can then advise. Regards, Nigel@Smartseal

Response from Nigel

Q: I have a patio which was recently (within the last few weeks) sealed with a non-Smartseal acrylic in wet look finish (United Crete Supplies was the manufacturer). I would like to apply a final coat with the SmartSeal anti-slip additive but in the matt finish. Is this possible? will this cause any compatibility issues with the existing sealed patio as its in a wet look finish? the existing sealer is functionally sound, no peeling or water damage, just cosmetically, we now prefer the matt finish.

Mitul

A: Unfortunately, we cannot advise on other companies products in terms of compatibilty with our own. However, if the original product used was a solvent based acrylic sealer, which is what most imprinted concrete surfaces are sealed with, then there is a good chance it will work. We would slaways suggest doing a small test patch first before sealing the entire area.
