Black Limestone Sealer - Re- Colours and Seals
Easy to Apply, Hardwearing Solvent-Based Sealer and Colourant

Smartseal black limestone sealer is a highly-effective solvent-based sealer and re-colourant for black limestone which gives a transformative effect.
Limestone slabs will often fade over time and gradually turn a lighter shade of grey. The black limestone sealer can transform the look of faded limestone patios and make them look like they were recently laid. The sealer can be re-applied at any time to ensure any limestone slabs on patios or other external surfaces look good at all times.
Preparation:
- Clean surface using a pressure washer and/or Patio Clean Xtreme.
- Allow to dry for a minimum of 72 hours
- Apply above 12°C with a temperature no higher than 23°C
- Two coats are recommended
- Apply by roller
- Coverage: Average coverage approx. 4 - 5m²/litre first coat (dependant on surface) and approx. 6 - 8m²/litre second coat
Always apply to a test area first to determine suitability. A sample size (150 ml) is available for purchase should you wish to try it before committing to purchase 5 Litres.
***PLEASE NOTE*** - For best results, if a sweep-in jointing compound has been used when the slabs were laid, we would recommend using the residue remover prior to application.
Q: Is it safe for dogs?
A: Ince dry the limestone sealer is perfectly safe for dogs to walk on.
Q: Can the black limestone sealer be used on our driveway porcelain slabs? Would it becoming patchy and wear off easily when driving over it regularly in a car?
A: The Black Limestone Sealer is not formulated for use on porcelain and hasn't been tested for this purpose. However, it would be best to carry out a test patch with a sample first to see if the product meets your expectations.
Q: Customer isn't pleased with the black as it shows every mark in a hard water area can a compatible paint be applied on top of a 2 month initial seal of slabs ?
A: The water marks should be easy to wipe off with a damp cloth. If you still want to paint over the black limestone sealer, you would need to do so with a Xylene based solvent paint. However, it may not be easy to do as the new colour could bleed into the black and make it look very unsightly. This would be against our recommendations.
Great coverage, double coated 45sqm in a couple of hours. the sealer makes the limestone really pop out.
I used extreme cleaner first and although it removed a lot of marks decided I would get a better finish with the black sealer. Im glad I did as it has made a tired odd job lot of pavers look great. It was easy to use, does smell though.
I have used other products in the past with limited success but this product was a game changer. The black limestone pation had been neglected for about 7 years and so had faded to a light grey. After cleaning the patio with patio cleaner extreme I applied 2 coats of this product, although the results were good they were a little patchy in places so I applied a 3rd coat and the patio is now looking as it was after it was originally laid and sealed over 7 years ago.. Great product guys.
