Preparation
Very little preparation to the surface of the tarmacadam or asphalt is required as Smartseal Tarmacadam Liquid Crack Filler is extremely easy to use. Prior to filling just ensure any loose dirt, organic growth or aggregate is scraped out from the crack. Do not use in wet or cold conditions below 5°C
Application:
Mix the tarmacadam crack filler well before and decant the liquid into a spouted jug. For cracks up to 3mm, sweep or scrape out loose debris and pour into the cracks using the spouted jug. For cracks 3mm - 25mm wide: prime the sides of the crack with a thin coat of the crack filler. Mix the liquid tarmacadam crack filler with damp sand to produce a slightly stiff mortar and paste into the crack. Smooth off and allow to dry.
Drying time will depend on weather conditions and the size of the crack being repaired. Allow approximately 24 hours for cracks up to 3mm and an average of 8-10 hours for cracks around 25mm. Try to ensure the surrounding temperature is warm and dry to avoid possible complications. Although some dampness can be tolerated, it is always best for the crack being repaired to reasonably dry during the application of the liquid crack filler for tarmacadam.
